Aleph is the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet and an ancient symbol symbolizing new beginnings. According to Wikipedia: “Aleph is also the first letter of the Hebrew word emet (אֶמֶת‎), which means truth. In Jewish mythology, it was the letter aleph that was carved into the head of the golem that ultimately gave it life.” Aleph and its symbolism may show up in your life at particular times of loneliness or hopelessness, to remind you that you are always spiritually supported. The letter Aleph is derived from ancient pictograms depicting an ox, so it also carries the energy of strength, fertility, and the earth-tending that gives way to new growth in the spring. Aleph possesses potent magic if you choose to work with it as a talisman.

I chose Aleph because it has magical properties and contains many layers of meaning and possibility. In my most distressed and suicidal times, Aleph is also a reminder that my past lives within me but does not solely define me. I can plant tiny seeds for a more just future, for myself and others. These truths are vaster than my suicidal thoughts and urges, no matter how powerful and compelling they may seem. My deepest truths hold the desire to die in love, compassion, and safety, until I am ready to face a new day.

May Aleph and its magic serve you well.
